The two-stage «Polyot»
LV is placed within the transporting and launching container (TLC)
on special support units (obturators) inside of the Antonov An-124-100AL
Carrier Aircraft. The SLV can be delivered by the CA to any point
over the ocean or land area.
After the Carrier Aircraft reaches the launch
area the LV is ejected from the CA at a preset time. The TLC pneumatic
ejection system ensures the LV ejection from the CA with a velocity
of about 30 m/s (relative to the CA) allowing the LV to move away
from the CA at a safe distance before the first stage ignition.
After the first stage burnout and separation,
the second stage engine is ignited to insert the payload into a
baseline (or near-baseline) orbit. An upper stage booster is used
to transfer satellites from the baseline orbit to higher orbits
(over 300-400 km).
